About Boxing Day 2026
Boxing Day 2026 falls on Saturday, December 26. Because that is a Saturday, the substitute day is Monday, December 28, and that is the day offices close. It lands on a Monday, so 2026 brings a three-day weekend from Saturday, December 26.
Boxing Day, December 26, is Canada's biggest shopping day and a paid holiday for federally regulated workers and in Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada it is widely taken off but not legally required — roughly Canada's answer to Black Friday, the day after Christmas.
