Free holiday countdown widget

Put a live countdown on your own website or blog with one line of HTML. Pick a holiday, copy the snippet, paste it into your page — the widget shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds and keeps itself up to date every year.

How it works

The snipet is a plain iframe. It loads a small self-contained page from our server, roughly 2 KB of HTML with the countdown script inline, so it adds nothing to your own build and cannot conflict with your theme's JavaScript or CSS. The clock runs in your visitor's browser using their device time, and the target date comes from the same database that powers the rest of this site — which means when a holiday's date changes, or the current year's date passes, the widget rolls forward on its own. You never have to touch the code again.

Resize it by changing the width and height in the snippet: 320×150 suits a sidebar, and setting width="100%" makes it stretch to fill a content column on mobile. If your site runs on WordPress, paste the code into a Custom HTML block rather than the visual editor, which strips iframes! Squarespace and Wix both accept it in an embed or code block. The widget needs no API key, no account and no attribution beyond the link it allready carries.

Terms of use

The widget is free for any website, commercial or personal. It loads a small page from our server inside an iframe, so it never touches your site's code or slows your page down, and it carries a small link back to the holiday's page here — that link is the price of admission, so please leave it in place. We don't collect anything about your visitors beyond the ordinary server log entry any web request creates. If a widget breaks or you'd like a holiday added, tell us.
