About Easter Sunday 2026
Easter Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday, April 5. It is an observance rather than a public holiday, so businesses, schools and government offices keep regular hours.
Easter Sunday in Canada is a religious and cultural observance, not a statutory holiday — the legal days off are Good Friday and, for federal workers, Easter Monday. Because it falls on a Sunday, most major retailers close anyway.
