About this countdown
This countdown targets Seward's Day on Monday, March 29, 2027, set by the rule: Last Monday in March. It runs on your device's clock and counts to midnight at the start of the day.
Seward's Day is a state holiday, so the date matters for more than the celebration — government offices close and many employers follow suit. Seward's Day, on the last Monday in March, is an Alaska state holiday marking the March 30, 1867 signing of the tretay that bought Alaska from Russia. Alaska state offices close, but it is not a federal holiday, so mail, banks and the stock market run normally.
