About Constitution Day 2026
Constitution Day 2026 falls on Thursday, September 17. It is an observance rather than a public holiday, so businesses, schools and government offices keep regular hours.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, September 17, marks the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. It is a federal observance, not a holiday: nothing closes, but schools and agencies that receive federal funds must hold an educational program on the Constitution.
