About Christmas Day 2027
Christmas Day 2027 falls on Saturday, December 25. Because that is a Saturday, the substitute day is Monday, December 27, and that is the day offices close. It lands on a Monday, so 2027 brings a three-day weekend from Saturday, December 25.
Christmas Day, December 25, is a nationwide public holiday in New Zealand and one of only three and a half days a year when shops are legally required to close. It falls in midsummer there, so the day is built around beaches, barbecues and backyard cricket.
