About St George's Day 2026
St George's Day 2026 falls on Thursday, April 23. It is an observance rather than a public holiday, so businesses, schools and government offices keep regular hours.
St George's Day, April 23, is the national day of England, honoring its patron saint. It is an observance, not a bank holiday: schools, banks and businesses across England open as usual, and the day passes with flag-flying, parades and civic events rather than time off.
