About Proclamation Day 2027
Proclamation Day 2027 falls on Sunday, December 26. Because that is a Sunday, the substitute day is Tuesday, December 28, and that is the day offices close. It falls on a Tuesday — take Monday, December 27 off for a four-day weekend.
Proclamation Day is South Australia's name for the December 26 public holiday other Australians call Boxing Day. It commemorates the 1836 proclamation of colonial government at Glenelg's Old Gum Tree, and when it falls on a weekend an extra weekday holiday is added.
